Security and passwords
All students are reminded of the need to create a secure log-in password for their use on college IT systems. All student use is monitored via our Impero software and alerts are created because of the use of offensive language, inappropriate internet searches, etc. Such abuse of college machines and software is a disciplinary issue. Please remember to log off or lock any machines when you are not around them so you are not a "victim" of someone else using your login inappropriately. More information can be found on college passwords here: Password information
OneDrive and the Learning Hub
OneDrive gives all staff & students 1TB of free online cloud storage (Office 365). Files can be saved and accessed from any PC, some smart phones and tablets connected to the internet. You can share large files and photos with fellow students and teachers. We insist that the majority of students use OneDrive instead of a USB or Pen Drive as these are easily lost and regularly fail. If you MUST use a removable device you will have to encrypt it. More information on encrypting can be found here: encrypting guide. Some students will also have access to a network drive in college if they deal with large files but this will not give access to your work outside college.
Connecting Office 365 account to The Learning Hub
This is a short, one time only, process but will benefit you if you have to submit documents via Assignment submissions because you can simpley select them from your OneDrive account directly inside the Learning Hub.
Accessibility
There is no limit to what people can achieve when technology reflects the diversity of all who use it.

HOw to access College WIFI
We have to monitor your use of our networks for safeguarding reasons. This means you have to log on at a PC and log in to our Wi-Fi. If you don’t want us to monitor your use you can use your own data.
To access our Wi-Fi search for the “BYOD” SSID in your Wi-Fi settings. iPhone and iPad users - You will be prompted to enter a username (your college ID number) and usual college password. Then choose to trust the certificate (even if it says “not trusted”). Android users – You will be presented with a similar screen to this when you click on the BYOD SSID. You need to enter your Student ID number in the Identity location and your password. Ignore anonymous identity. For the CA certificate click on the “Please select” dropdown and choose “Do not validate”. Finally click on connect. Laptop users – log in to BYOD with your username (Student ID) and Password. Some laptops may request different information – ask for help if you need it – from IT support or the LRC |
